about boarding

Go on vacation guilt-free knowing your dog is having a vacation of their own at Sled & Breakfast!

When you board your dog at Sled & Breakfast, you can have peace of mind that they are well taken care of, in a safe environment, and of course – having fun!

We offer standard boarding and luxury suites to ensure all pups are comfortable. There is someone onsite 24/7 to ensure your pet’s safety.

They will be in an area with other dogs that are similar in size and energy level. Your dog will be active and interacting with other dogs throughout the day.

We also offer board and train services if you are interested in touching up your dogs basic commands while you’re at the beach – or if they are a younger dog and you want them learning for the first time. Our board and train packages are a great option for your dog while they’re here with us!

If your dog is a first-time guest to Sled & Breakfast, they will need to complete their behavior evaluation before being approved for boarding. This ensures they are comfortable in our play groups. We do not have any breed restrictions for boarding, but please check the vaccine requirements in our FAQ section below before their evaluation.

Boarding Setup and Overnight Kennel Options

Our boarding suites

Play all day long, sleep in a comfortable kennel (or suite!) at night.

During the daytime your dog will be playing in their play group (it’s a long day – outdoor playgroups run the entire day). Our building and yard setup is unique – we have outdoor yards with connecting doors to the inside dog play area rooms. This means your dog has the option to go outside and play as long as they want to, or come inside anytime they choose for a quick nap or some indoor time.

Most of the time though, the dogs choose to play outside and love the space they get to run and play around outside with their friends. Of course – your dog’s safety is at the TOP of our priority list, so if there is inclement weather, or it is just too hot or too cold, we will make sure all daycare and boarded dogs are entertained indoors only while the weather conditions last.

Your dog will be kenneled for a short time 3x a day for their breakfast, lunch, & dinner meals and to rest. This gives them time to eat in peace in their own kennel and have some down time. Some pups might require extra breaks throughout the day at the parents’ request and we can always accommodate that, as well! Besides that, it’s playtime from sun up to sun down for your pup!

At night – your dog will be kenneled in a private single dog kennel. We also have a few select options for a luxury suite for dogs needing more room or who want to be in an area with their dog sibling.

Add on a Dog Training Package during your stay…

Get more out of your boarding experience and add on a dog training package to your dog’s overnight boarding stay. If you choose to add on dog training, your dog will still get in plenty of play time with their friends during the day but will get brought into our training room a few times each day for private lessons with one of our trainers. Our training package includes a 10-day obedience program (Monday-Friday) that helps work on basic commands and certain behavior issues you may need assistance with.

What do I need to do to prepare for my dog’s stay?

In preparation for your dog’s stay, we ask that you pre-measure each meal and put them in Ziplock baggies with your pet’s name on them. This will help ensure they get the correct amount of food each meal. Please do not put any medication in the baggies. All meds need to come in their original pharmacy bottle with the instructions on them.

You’re welcome to bring a blanket or favorite toy! All items will stay in your pet’s kennel during their stay.

“This is the best!”

If anyone in St. Louis is looking for a boarding facility or doggy daycare, this is THE BEST. One of the owners saved our dog’s life. Richie was the first person to let us know that Rufus was experiencing medical issues, which turned out to be cancer. Rufus has been a client of Richie’s since he was 4 months old. Because of his attentiveness we were able to get Rufus treated. We have used Richie for daycare and boarding for years! Check them out!!! Your dog will never receive better care!

– Bryan and Lauren Toney (and Rufus)

“We are so happy to have such a great place”

Sled & Breakfast has helped our rescue pup overcome some of her anxiety. She used to be scared of other dogs and with Richie’s help, we introduced her to a few other dogs and now she can play at daycare all day. She’s got some quirks and we know that Sled & Breakfast will meet her where she is and take care of our girl when she boards with them. We recently moved to Chicago, but still drive Gloria down to board at Sled & Breakfast. We are so happy to have such a great place for her to be safe while we travel.

– Kellie & Dan K (and Gloria)
